Connect LinkedIn
Link the LinkedIn account Scout sends from, what Scout does as you, and how to disconnect.
Outreach goes out from your own LinkedIn account, so a candidate receives a message from you rather than from a tool. Nothing is sent until you connect it, and you can disconnect at any time.
Connect
- On the dashboard, open LinkedIn under Connections.
- Press Connect LinkedIn. You are taken to LinkedIn's own sign-in page; the link is valid for an hour. Sign in as you normally would, including any two-step verification.
- You return to the dashboard showing "connected" with your name. In Slack, Scout says it is ready for LinkedIn outreach.
Scout only ever asks you to connect once the interview is ready and outreach is the next step. It takes about a minute.
Your plan includes one connected LinkedIn account. To use a different one, disconnect the first.
What Scout does with it
Acting as you, Scout views profiles, sends connection requests with a short note, sends and replies to messages, and asks interested candidates for their email and CV. It works at a human pace and inside limits you set; see Pacing and limits.
Everything it sends is logged word for word on the Outreach page, and every conversation is mirrored into your Slack notification channel as it happens.
Your voice
Right after connecting, Scout shows you its default messaging style and asks how you want to sound. The default is warm, direct and professional, two to four sentences, no emojis, honest that the next step is an AI screening interview of about fifteen minutes, signed with your first name. Describe any changes once and Scout keeps them for every message.
The sender starts paused
Connecting LinkedIn does not start any sending. Scout sets up the sender paused, and only starts when an owner or admin says go live in Slack and confirms, or presses Start outreach on this page. See LinkedIn outreach.
Disconnect
Open the LinkedIn page and press Disconnect. Scout stops sending from that account immediately and revokes its own access. If LinkedIn does not confirm the revocation, the page tells you so you can also remove the app from your LinkedIn settings.
Disconnecting does not delete anything: roles, candidates, the queue and the message log all stay.
If the connection fails
"LinkedIn connection didn't complete - you can try again." means LinkedIn's page was closed or timed out. Start again from the LinkedIn page. If your plan's account is already in use you will see "Your plan includes 1 connected LinkedIn account - disconnect it before connecting another."
