Sourcing and outreach

Message log and do-not-contact

Every message Scout sent as you, the outreach queue, opt-outs, and the do-not-contact list.

Every message Scout sends as you is logged word for word, and anyone who asks not to be contacted is suppressed everywhere. Both live on the Outreach page of the dashboard, and both can be managed from Slack.

The Outreach page

Three tabs.

Queue

Everyone waiting to be contacted, with their state:

StateMeaning
QueuedWaiting for a send slot
ClaimedPicked up for today's sends
SentConnection request sent
FailedCould not be sent after retries
CancelledRemoved before sending

Cancel a queued person here, or ask Scout: "cancel outreach to Tom Wells".

Messages sent

The full log of everything Scout has sent from your LinkedIn account, exactly as sent, labelled Connection note, Direct message, InMail or Reply in thread, with the candidate, the role and the time. This is the record the Platform Terms refer to: you are the sender, and this is what was sent.

Do not contact

Everyone Scout will not contact, in two groups: Added by you and Added by Scout. Press Allow contact again to remove someone.

How suppression works

A person on the list is skipped at three points: when a batch is queued, when a sender picks someone up for the day, and immediately before every send. Adding someone who is already queued cancels their queue entry.

Automatic opt-outs

If a candidate replies with words to the effect of "stop contacting me", "please remove me", "unsubscribe" or "do not contact", Scout adds them to your do-not-contact list, cancels anything queued for them, and stops replying. It does not send a reply to the opt-out itself. You see a note in your Slack channel: "asked not to be contacted. Scout has added them to your do-not-contact list and stopped replying."

A plain "not interested" is treated as a decline, not an opt-out: the conversation ends politely and the person is not suppressed.

Manage the list from Slack

  • "Add jane@x.com to do-not-contact" or "don't contact Jane Smith again": adds them.
  • "Remove Jane Smith from do-not-contact": removes them. Owners and admins only.
  • "Who's on the do-not-contact list?": shows it.

Where else conversations show

Every LinkedIn exchange is mirrored into your notification channel as it happens, so you can follow along without opening the dashboard. The Slack copy is a mirror; the Outreach page is the record.
