Sourcing and outreach

Outreach Agent settings

Persona, behaviour, knowledge and routines: how Scout sounds, how much it sends, and when it reports.

Outreach Agent on the dashboard is where you shape how Scout behaves when it is working: how it sounds, how much it sends, what it knows about your company, and when it reports. Owners and admins can edit; members can read. Most of it can also be changed by asking Scout in Slack.

Persona

SettingWhat it does
Tone of VoiceHow Scout writes to candidates as you. Set in conversation with Scout after LinkedIn connects, and editable here.
Message SignatureHow messages are signed. The default is your first name only.
Who candidates hear fromThe name and title candidates see, normally the person whose LinkedIn is connected.

Behavior

SettingWhat it does
Connection Requests Per DayThe daily limit per LinkedIn account, 1 to 60, default 10. Details in Pacing and limits.
Working Hours and TimezoneWhen Scout sends and replies. Default is all day, Europe/London.
Pause outreach on weekendsNo sending on Saturday or Sunday.
Handoff TriggersTopics Scout should hand to you rather than answer, for example anything about compensation. These become "Needs a human answer" cards in Slack.
Company exclusion listCompanies whose current employees Scout never contacts, across every role. People you queue whose employer is already known are dropped on the spot and Scout tells you; everyone else is checked right before their send. Skipped people appear on the Outreach page with the reason. "Google" also covers "Google LLC" and "Google Cloud", but not "Googleplex Ltd".
Company priority listCompanies whose people Scout contacts first and ranks higher in suggested candidates.
InMail follow-upOff by default. After a connection request has gone unanswered for the days you choose (1 to 14, default 3), Scout sends one InMail with your subject and message; {first}, {name}, {role}, {company} and {sender} are filled in. Only when the account has InMail credits or the person is an Open Profile member, and at most the daily cap per account (default 10). Details in LinkedIn outreach.

Knowledge

What Scout may say about your company when candidates ask.

SettingWhat it does
Company InformationA description of the company. Fill from website drafts it from your site.
Hiring PitchWhy someone should want the job. Used when a candidate asks "why you?"
Objection ResponsesYour answers to common pushback: "I'm not looking", "what's the salary?", "is this remote?" Saving hands every answer to Scout and to each connected LinkedIn account's agent, so a candidate gets the same reply whoever they ask.
Your own questionsUnder Objection Responses, Add a question lets you write any question candidates ask and the answer Scout should give, in your words. Saved globally, used in every conversation on every role, and handed to the LinkedIn agents on the same save.

Anything not covered here is escalated to you in Slack. Your reply in that thread is added to the knowledge so the next candidate is answered without you. See Cards and buttons.

Routines

Send daily summary to Slack posts a short note on outreach activity at a time you choose.

Send digest to Slack is the pipeline digest with completed scorecards. Choose daily or weekly, the day, and the hour, in your timezone. The default is weekly on Monday at 09:00. In Slack, "send the digest daily at 8am" changes it after a Confirm.

Skills

Toggles for what Scout may do on its own during outreach. Leave them on unless you have a reason not to.

Direct Messages shows Coming soon and cannot be turned on. First contact with a candidate is a connection request or an email; see Outreach.

Saving

Press Save at the bottom of a tab. Changes to pacing, hours and voice apply from the next send. Changing settings by asking Scout in Slack posts a Confirm card first.
