Scout in Slack

Slash commands

The /scout command reference: help, link, verify, notify and status.

Everything conversational goes through a DM or an @mention. Five housekeeping jobs are slash commands, so they work before you are linked and from any channel. Replies to /scout commands are visible only to you.

Reference

CommandWhat it does
/scout helpLists the commands and a few example messages
/scout link you@agency.comStarts linking your Slack user to your Scout account: emails a six-digit code to that address
/scout verify 123456Finishes linking with the emailed code
/scout notifyMakes the channel you run it in the notification channel. Invite Scout to the channel first
/scout statusQuick counts of your interview pipeline
/scout link you@agency.com

Use the exact email on your Scout account. Scout replies "If that email has a Scout recruiter account in this workspace's agency, a 6-digit code is on its way," then emails the code with the subject "Your Scout Slack link code". The reply is the same whether or not the address matched, so if no email arrives, check the address on the Team page and that you have been invited to this workspace's Scout account.

/scout verify

/scout verify 123456

On success: "Linked! You can now DM me or @mention me to run your recruiting from Slack. Try /scout status."

ReplyWhat to do
No active link request - start with /scout linkRun the link command first
That code expired - start again with /scout linkCodes are short-lived; request a new one
Too many wrong attempts - start again with /scout linkRequest a new code
That code doesn't matchCheck the digits and try again

/scout notify

/invite @scout
/scout notify

Run both inside the channel you want Scout to report in. Scout posts "Scout will post interview updates here" in the channel and confirms to you. If Scout is not yet in the channel it says "I can't post in that channel - invite me first (/invite @scout), then retry." You need to be linked before this works.

What the channel receives is described in Set up Slack.

/scout status

/scout status

Shows the interview pipeline: Sent (pending), Claimed, In progress, Completed, Expired / revoked, and Total. The same numbers, with names, are on the Scorecards page. For a fuller picture ask Scout for a "weekly summary" in conversation.
