First steps

Quickstart

Create your workspace, add Scout to Slack, and get your first role screening in about ten minutes.

This walkthrough gets Scout from nothing to a live screening interview. It takes about ten minutes, and nothing reaches a candidate until you have connected LinkedIn and told Scout to go live.

Scout setup walkthrough

1. Create your workspace

Go to sendscout.ai and press Start for free. The form asks for your name, an optional workspace name, your email and a password of at least eight characters. Press Create workspace.

Every new workspace starts a 7-day free trial. No card is needed. You land in the dashboard on the Roles page, with a setup checklist in the sidebar: Connect Slack, Link LinkedIn, Create your first role, Set up Scout.

Note

If a colleague already has a Scout workspace, ask them to invite you from Team instead of creating a second one. Scout keeps one workspace per Slack.

2. Add Scout to Slack

Open Slack under Connections in the sidebar and press Add to Slack. Slack asks you to approve the app for your workspace; pick the workspace your hiring team uses. You come back to the dashboard with the message "Slack connected. Your team can start talking to Scout."

Scout sends you a direct message straight away introducing itself, with a link to the setup video above and the four steps you are about to follow. Your Slack user is linked to your Scout account automatically. Teammates link themselves later with a slash command, covered in Set up Slack.

3. Give Scout a role

Reply to Scout's DM with your careers page link, or paste a job description, or attach the PDF. Scout reads it and creates the role with its title, location, salary and must-haves.

Scout

I found 3 open roles on your careers page and pulled in the full description for each:

• Account Executive (London, hybrid)

• Sales Development Representative (Remote, UK)

• Customer Success Manager (London)

Which one shall we start with? I'll draft the screening interview for it next.

A careers page import brings in up to ten postings at a time. You can also create a role by hand on the dashboard. See Roles.

4. Review the interview

Scout drafts a short intro screen for the role and shows you the questions. Tell it what to change, add or drop. When it looks right, say try it and Scout sends you a demo link so you can take the interview exactly as a candidate will.

Roles that are too senior for an AI screening can skip it. Say "skip the interview" and Scout collects a CV from each interested candidate instead and hands the decision to you in Slack. See AI screening or CV review.

5. Connect LinkedIn

When the interview is ready, Scout asks you to connect LinkedIn. Open LinkedIn under Connections, press Connect LinkedIn and sign in on LinkedIn's own page. It takes about a minute. Scout now sends connection requests and messages from your account, as you.

Right after connecting, Scout asks how you want to sound to candidates and shows you the default style. Answer once and it uses that voice for every message. See Connect LinkedIn.

6. Choose where Scout reports

In Slack, create or pick a channel for hiring updates, invite Scout to it with /invite @scout, then run /scout notify inside that channel. Scorecards, CV reviews, escalated candidate questions and the pipeline digest all post there.

7. Go live

Give Scout people to contact: paste LinkedIn profile links, upload a CSV, or ask it to suggest candidates already in your pipeline. Scout shows you the batch and asks you to Confirm. Then say go live. Scout confirms once more, then starts sending within your daily limit.

🚀 Go live - Ahmer's LinkedIn: Scout starts sending connection requests within your daily limit, checks for replies through the day, asks interested candidates for their email and CV, and sends the interview. You'll see every conversation in #hiring.

Replies come in over the following days. Candidates who finish the interview appear in your pipeline digest and in the Scorecards page, each with a verdict, strengths and concerns, and a Make an intro button.
