Roles and screening

Scorecards

How interviews are graded, what a verdict means, where scorecards arrive, and the intro and reject actions.

A scorecard is Scout's read of one interview: a verdict, a score, and the reasoning, so you read a summary rather than a transcript. Nothing is deleted: every screened candidate keeps their transcript and scorecard, and you can overrule a verdict at any time.

It also carries the candidate's right-to-work answer from before the interview, in Slack and on the dashboard: "Yes" with their visa or work status in their own words. A candidate who answered No never reaches an interview; see Candidate experience.

How grading works

Grading runs in the background as soon as an interview ends and finishes within minutes.

  1. Each question is rated 0 to 5 against the guide: what a good answer looks like, weighted to how much it matters for the role. 0 means no answer, 3 average, 5 exceptional.
  2. An overall verdict is reached: strong yes, yes, mixed, no or strong no, with a one-paragraph summary, up to three strengths and up to three concerns.
  3. A score out of 100 combines the verdict with the question ratings, so two candidates with the same verdict can still be ordered.

The colour of the score bar is only a colour: green from 70, amber from 40, red below.

Where scorecards arrive

  • Slack. Completed interviews are collected into your pipeline digest, weekly on Monday morning by default, as a carousel you can page through. See more opens the full card in a thread. Ask "weekly summary" to get the digest now. Change the schedule under Outreach Agent then Routines, or ask Scout; see Outreach Agent settings.
  • Dashboard. Scorecards lists every interview with its status and verdict, and opens to the full scorecard and transcript.

Act on a scorecard

Make an intro sends the candidate a short message on LinkedIn from your account with your booking link: "it went well, and the team would like to speak with you properly." The first time you press it, Scout asks for your booking link in the thread and keeps it.

Reject asks "Reject this candidate?" and then sends a polite decline on LinkedIn: "Unfortunately we won't be moving forward for the role this time." The candidate stays in your pipeline.

On the dashboard you can also Mark reviewed, Re-grade with AI (asks for a Confirm in Slack), Reset interview so the candidate can retake it, export the scorecard as a PDF, and copy or revoke the interview link.

Interview statuses

Each invitation moves through these states, visible on the Scorecards page and in /scout status:

StatusMeaning
PendingInvitation sent, not opened
ClaimedThe candidate created their account and can start
In progressInterview started
CompletedFinished, scorecard on its way or ready
Expired14 days passed without completion
RevokedYou cancelled it

Ask Scout "who's stuck?" to list invitations that have sat unopened.

Overruling a verdict

The verdict is a recommendation. Open the scorecard on the dashboard, read the transcript, and pick your own decision. Making an intro from a Not fit scorecard is done from the dashboard, or by asking Scout to send the booking link to that candidate.
